Outside the box

This just makes my day and reminds of the possibilities that lie out there for all of us.

I'm currently rehearsing for a new musical that I was introduced to...um...last Friday. So needless to say, being thrown straight into rehearsal with little time to learn music or character work etc. I have a lot of catching up to do. Still, it's hilarious, fun and a lot of hard work.

Sounds right up my alley. :)

What Will You Fill Your Heart With in 2010?, by Thomas Ott

reblogged from Unicornology
  • Fool: Bloated, hyperbolic professional bios/marketing copy.
Cool: Letting your accomplishments speak for themselves.
  • Fool: Pretending that 600 Facebook friends means 600 actual friends.
Cool: Spending more time with the people you really care about and authentically engaging with your community (whatever “community” means to you).
  • Fool: Signing up for a million dollar plus mortgage because house prices keep on rising and it’s “a good investment”.
Cool: Getting in touch with what really makes you happy and directing your funds towards that.
  • Fool: Binge drinking.
    Cool: Binge thinking.
  • Fool: What others can do for you.
Cool: What you can do for others.
  • Fool: Staying out til 3am because it’s a Friday night and that’s what you’re supposed to do.
Cool: Staying in on weekends if that’s what you feel like doing, going out on weeknights if there’s something cool on, and directing one’s leisure time to pleasure rather than presentation.
  • Fool: Internet fameballs and feigning a glamorous life in the hope of inspiring envy in others. Lifecasting.
Cool: Mindcasting. Reading other people’s blogs instead of just trying to get them to read yours.
  • Fool: Doing 100 things in a half assed way.
Cool: Doing at least one thing really, really well. And the rest in a half-assed way, if you still have time.
  • Fool: Conspicuous consumption.
    Cool: Deliberate understatement.

Fool/cool concept borrowed from Something Changed and Right Angle Media. General gist of post probably a result of reading too much Zen Habits and The Simple Dollar.

PoohBear wants to know why you like dope...

Went to the Dark Room yesterday for Bad Movie Night.

And unless you are dead, this is probably one of the funnest (yes, grammar, I know) nights you will ever have. It's a take off of Mystery Science Theater 3000 - where a man and two robots make sarcastic and hysterical cracks about the plot, actors, overexposed mammalia and general tennents of film making. So basically, imagine a room full of geeky film aficionados who are all Bay Area Brilliant (which means, smart but cheeky), who are mostly drunk from BYOB (the liquor store across the street where the clerk thought I was 19, ha) and who are all screaming hilarious obcenities at the screen and you get the idea.

That's my idea of a good time. Really people. I couldn't have laughed harder. Even more hysterical than the actual movie (which was GI Joe, btw) were the cartoon PSAs they showed beforehand, including a totally pyschedelic version of Cartoon All Stars to the Rescue: (save me Pooh Bear!)

And these incredible redubs of the GI Joes..

Check this stuff out people, it's totally awesome and only $5.
