Go if you must go.

Go if you must go
Turn if you must turn away
Don't cry a tear for me

Laugh if you can smile
Run if you're walking away
Don't cry a tear for me

Shout if you can speak
Sing if you mention my name
Don't cry a tear for me

Low in the valley, stand in the wind and the rain
High on the mountain, see the sun shining again

Shout if you can speak
Sing when you mention my name
Don't cry a tear for me

So go if you must go
Turn if you must turn away
Don't cry a tear for me.

Often astounded by the connections that surround us-bringing us closer to each other than we ever thought we were. Quietly humbled by something larger than what I conceive as faith or self or spirituality. The lyrics are to Lyle Lovett's, "Don't Cry a Tear" - a song that Papa Bear loved...and the song that his son, my friend, Bee has decided to sing at his memorial today.

The same haunting, beautiful, lilting lullaby that has been playing in the pre-show playlist for ST since January. The one song that never failed to calm me, got me to appreciate the weird appeal of Lyle Lovett and now makes me understand; even if Papa Bear never got to see the show...

He was watching over me the entire time.

I'm crying.
But he's here, to stroke my head
We hold hands.
And it's ok.
