Somedays, it's like this.

Well...consider it mission accomplished.

It only took 29 years.

But I am pretty.

That is what the 8 year old from Medford, Illinois wearing the blue-green floral smocked sundress told me in the bathroom of 'Marie Callendar's' tonight when she walked in to talk. (and use the potty presumably)

She also wanted to know where I was from.

I told her 'San Francisco' and she looked, initially, gobsmacked but then sort of satisfied with my answer. As if she had done the whole, "Oh I GET IT! She's AMERICAN!" epiphany in the span of 3 milliseconds. She informed me that she was on a visit from Illinois and was going into San Francisco tomorrow for a visit. And she was taking Bart. UNDER THE BAY. (V. important)

Projecting; it might have been her first encounter with an Asian person, ever. And she wanted to see if she could handle it.

Well, my dear, whomever you are, you did splendidly. Welcome to the Bay.

Hi Penny - That is really cute! As we were told numerous times on vacation; "but, you, cannot be American!" ;o)

Moi aussi!

20 something. Singer/designer/blogger. My last blog is now permanently lost in the ether, but I've been writing online since 1995. And so it begins...
